Circle of Friends
Circle of Friends is a 1990 novel by bestselling Irish author Maeve Binchy, who is known for her portrayals of small-town life in Ireland. In the U.S., it is one of Binchy’s most popular works, in part due to the moderate box office success of the 1995 film adaptation starring Chris O’Donnell and Minnie Driver. The book is about a pair of friends who grow up together in the 1950s in the fictional small town of Knockglen. Both attend the University of Dublin, where their loyalty is tested as new people join their circle.
