“Blockhead”

Gersh's Blog: Gumby- The Blockheads were masons...

“A learned blockhead is a greater blockhead than an ignorant one.” —Benjamin Franklin

“Blockhead” is a word for a stupid person. The word probably comes from the head-shaped block of wood once used by wigmakers and milliners. In Charles Schulz’s beloved comic strip Peanuts, Lucy commonly hurls the insult at Charlie Brown. Fans of the boy band New Kids on the Block call themselves Blockheads. The Blockheads (one of 26 pictured above) are the main antagonists of the claymation character Gumby.
