Season 22, Day 16 - "A Reverent Quiz"
It's Old week, and today's quiz is inspired by the Old North Church.
Hi everyone! I waited until after the weekend to avoid spoiling, but I think enough time has passed to congratulate Josh Saak on winning the first Jeopardy! Champions Wild Card competition and earning a spot in the next Tournament of Champions!! Congrats also to Sam Stapleton for a really well-played finals.
Old North Church
The Old North Church is an Episcopal church in the North End neighborhood of Boston. Officially named “Christ Church in the City of Boston,” it’s best known for its role in Paul Revere’s “midnight ride.” On April 18, 1775, the sexton of the Old North Church (Robert Newman) climbed the 190-foot steeple and hung two lanterns, following Revere’s instructions to signal “one if by land, two if by sea.” The two lanterns notified allies in Charlestown that the British were taking boats across the Charles River. These events were famously commemorated in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem “Paul Revere’s Ride.” The oldest church building in Boston and a National Historic Landmark, the Old North Church is one of the 17 stops on the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile long path that passes by significant historical locations.
