Season 26, Day 4 - "Feeling Crabby"
It's "Apple" week, and today's quiz is inspired by the crabapple.
Crabapple
The crabapple is a small, sour, wild apple. It is the only type of apple native to North America. While they are rarely eaten raw, they are an excellent source of pectin, and are used to make jellies and applesauce. With their brightly colored flowers and fruit, crabapple trees are known as “jewels of the landscape,” and they are popularly used in bonsai. Benjamin Franklin “Hawkeye” Pierce of M*A*S*H, played by Alan Alda in the TV series and Donald Sutherland in the original film, hailed from Crabapple Cove, Maine. Bart Simpson’s teacher on The Simpsons, who married the Simpsons’ neighbor Ned Flanders, is named Edna Krabappel.
