Season 27, Day 20 - "Nothing to See Here"
It's Party week, and today's quiz is inspired by the Know-Nothing Party.
Hi everyone, last day of Season 27! Sorry things are still running behind schedule; I will get us caught up as soon as I can. Thanks so much for bearing with me. I hope you enjoyed the season!!
Know-Nothing Party
The Know-Nothing Party was an anti-immigrant and anti-Catholic political party that became prominent in the 1850s. Members were supposed to say “I know nothing” when asked about the party, hence its name. Eventually, it became known as the American Party. The Know Nothings nominated Millard Fillmore in 1856, and the former president received 21.5% of the popular vote and 8 electoral votes (carrying the state of Maryland), finishing behind Democrat James Buchanan and Republican John C. Fremont. Wild West dime novel author Ned Buntline was a leader in the Know-Nothing party.
