Season 27, Day 9 - "The Straight Soap"
It's Young week, and today's quiz is inspired by The Young and the Restless.
The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless (abbreviated Y&R) is a long-running daytime soap opera that airs on CBS. Originally to be titled “The Innocent Years,” it was created by husband and wife William and Lee Bell and premiered in 1973. Centered around the Abbott and Newman families, it’s set in the fictional Genoa City, which is named for the Wisconsin town of the same name. It’s been the highest-rated daytime drama on American television for over three decades and launched the acting careers of Eva Longoria, David Hasselhoff, and Tom Selleck. President Gerald Ford’s son Steven was once a regular on the series. The show’s theme music has been known as “Nadia’s Theme” since it was used for a montage of Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci’s routines during the 1976 Summer Olympics. Sister show The Bold and the Beautiful premiered on CBS in 1987, with several characters from each show often crossing over to the other.
