Season 28, Day 10 - "It's Gotta Be the Shoes"
It's Sculpture week, and today's quiz is inspired by The Winged Victory of Samothrace.
The Winged Victory of Samothrace
The Winged Victory of Samothrace (a.k.a. the Niké of Samothrace) is a marble sculpture that was found on the Aegean island of Samothrace. It is a representation of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, standing on a base shaped like a ship’s bow. The statue was missing its head and arms when it was discovered in 1863. The Winged Victory of Samothrace is displayed at the top of the main staircase in the Louvre.
