Blackpool

Blackpool is a seaside resort town in Lancashire County, England. It’s located on a 13-mile-long peninsula called the Fylde. One of the largest English ports on the Irish Sea, it is one of Britain’s most popular holiday destinations. Attractions include Pleasure Beach Resort, an amusement park with the U.K.’s largest collection of wooden roller coasters; Blackpool Tower, which was inspired by the Eiffel Tower; the Illuminations, an annual months-long lights festival; and the Winter Gardens, a large entertainment complex. Blackpool has grown rapidly since the late 18th century, when it became a popular sea bathing center (sea bathing had become fashionable due to the supposed health-giving properties of seawater).
