Season 28, Day 19 - "Vamping It Up"
It's "Queen" week, and today's quiz is inspired by The Queen of the Damned.
The Queen of the Damned
The Queen of the Damned is a novel by Anne Rice. The third of Rice’s Vampire Chronicles (a series which began with Interview with the Vampire), it was one of the best-selling novels of 1988, along with Tom Wolfe’s The Bonfire of the Vanities and Stephen King’s The Tommyknockers. The book explores the origin of vampires, beginning in Kemet (the native name for Ancient Egypt) with Akasha, the titular “queen of the damned” and mother of all vampires. The Queen of the Damned was adapted into a 2002 horror film of the same name, with the title character Akasha played by the pop star Aaliyah (the movie was released posthumously after the singer’s 2001 death in a plane crash).
