Anthony Michael Hall is an American actor. He’s best known for his nerdy roles in the 1980s teen comedy films The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Weird Science, all of which were written and directed by John Hughes. Hall was a member of Hollywood’s Brat Pack, a term popularized by a 1985 New York magazine cover story. Hall joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for the 1985-86 season at just 17 years old, becoming the youngest cast member in the show’s history, a distinction which he still holds. He also played Rusty Griswold in National Lampoon’s Vacation and Winona Ryder’s antagonist boyfriend in the 1990 movie Edward Scissorhands. In the 1999 TV movie Pirates of Silicon Valley, he played Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. From 2002 to 2007, he starred in a USA Network series based on Stephen King’s The Dead Zone. Hall will reportedly play the villain in the upcoming third season of the Amazon series Reacher, based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel series.
