Season 29, Day 5 - "Flow Backwards"
It's Sea week, and today's quiz is inspired by The Sea-Wolf.
The Sea-Wolf
The Sea-Wolf is a 1904 novel by Jack London. It opens with a ferry accident in San Francisco Bay. The protagonist — a literary critic named Humphrey Van Weyden — is rescued at sea by Wolf Larsen (the titular “Sea-Wolf”), the captain of a seal-hunting schooner called “the Ghost.” In 1893 London set sail on a seven-month seal-hunting expedition, an experience which provided much of the material for The Sea-Wolf, with the character of Wolf Larsen loosely based on real-life sea captain Alex MacLean. The Sea-Wolf was adapted into films of the same name in 1913, 1920, 1926, 1930, and (perhaps most notably) 1941, with gangster actor Edward G. Robinson as Wolf Larsen.
