Season 30, Day 10 - "Banjo Kazooie!"
It's Man week, and today's quiz is inspired by “The Man from Snowy River.”
“The Man from Snowy River”
“The Man from Snowy River” is a poem by Australian poet A.B. “Banjo” Paterson. One of the most well-known and beloved Australian poems of all time, it’s about the escape of a valuable colt and the ensuing chase by the title character to get it back. The 1982 film version of “The Man from Snowy River” was the highest-grossing Australian movie in history — star Kirk Douglas sued the producers, claiming he was underpaid — until it was surpassed by Crocodile Dundee, which still holds the record. The 1990s Australian TV series based on the poem featured future stars Guy Pearce and Hugh Jackman. The lyricist of his home country’s unofficial national anthem “Waltzing Matilda,” Banjo Paterson is depicted on the Australian 10-dollar bill, which also includes text from “The Man from Snowy River” (pictured above).
