Happy New Year everyone! My apologies for the recent pause — I added an extra 30 days to all paid subscriptions and will take the rest of the week to catch up with scoring. Day 16 will go out on Monday, January 6.
Land’s End
Land’s End is a peninsula in Cornwall County, England. Located between the English Channel and the Celtic Sea, it’s the westernmost point of mainland England. It shares its name (except for the placement of an apostrophe) with the Wisconsin-based mail order clothing retailer Lands’ End. Built in the late 18th century, the still active Longships Lighthouse is located just off the coast of Land’s End. The Finistère region of Brittany, France and the Gaspé Peninsula of Quebec both have names meaning “land’s end.” Spanning the length of Great Britain, “Land’s End to John o’ Groats” (LEJOG) is a popular route for cyclists, runners, and walkers; the phrase is also used as a metaphor for great distances.
